Lost Treasures

Ninja Blade BoxartIt’s hard to believe sometimes that the Xbox 360 is coming up on its 10th anniversary and as such has produced a string of games that have gotten forgotten about or have become lost treasures as time has gone on. Ninja Blade, from From Software is one of those titles.

Released in 2009 for the 360 and Windows, Ninja Blade is a single player hack-n-slash action game that is sometimes referred to as Otogi 3, although it is certainly a separate IP. It’s designed to give players the intensity of a Hollywood action film and for the most part, it works very well within that goal.

Borrowing heavily from Ninja Gaiden and God of War, Ninja Blade can’t always sustain the action throughout its 10 hour length but it has enough fun elements along the way to make it trip you should consider taking. Now that the game is over 5 years old, you should be able to pick it up for a song.

The game honestly doesn’t do anything new but it’s definitely worth a look. If it were a movie I would describe it as a popcorn film. It’s enjoyable for what it is. It won’t win any game of the year awards but it’s put together by a very competant team and if you aren’t expecting the world you will walk away very satisfied.
