Assassin’s Creed II [PS4] – The first hour!
In a long line of “Remastered” games to release for the current generation of consoles, none have excited Sean of The OMG! Hour more than his precious Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection.
In this episode of OMG! it’s, Sean takes the first game in the collection, Assassin’s Creed II, through the first hour of the game.
The environments in Assassin’s Creed II are certainly visually more impressive than the original games. While not quite on par with more recent Assassin’s Creed games such as Unity or Syndicate, this remastered collection does feel like it belongs on this current generation of consoles. The city also feels more alive with what seems to be a more abundant number of characters walking around.
What doesn’t translate very well, however, and are not quite as impressive as they could be, are the characters themselves. They are certainly upgraded from the original Xbox 360/PS3 versions of the games, but there’s still something off about them. They look a little sickly and not nearly as high definition as the surrounding environments.
Also missing is an updated control scheme. The gameplay itself is untouched from the original including the old style Assassin’s Creed control scheme. In a collection like this, it would have been nice, especially for fans of the series, to see the controls brought up to the current, more convenient, standard. That’s certainly not a deal breaker, but it is a bit of a shock for long time fans to go back to a lesser control mode.
Be sure to check back again for another episode of OMG! it’s as we move on to the beginnings of Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood.
